Top Weed Drinks & Beverages

Since cannabis beverages have been legal in Canada for a year now, you may be wondering where you can buy them. Unfortunately, due to the restrictive regulations imposed upon the legal cannabis marketplace, commercially available cannabis edibles, weed drinks, and other consumables are limited to low doses and typically sold individually at high prices. For someone with even the slightest tolerance to cannabis products or a medical patient in need of stronger dosages to help with relief from their symptoms, they would not be able to afford the necessary amount required to get a proper dose. What’s more, nobody wants to have to eat four or five candy bars or drink an entire six pack of soda in order to get a very small amount of cannabis.

Even though the language discussing cannabis beverages and edibles is still couched in the “danger” of people having too high of a dose, there is no evidence that overconsumption of cannabis has ever led to death or any other negative consequences. In fact, the only danger is that you might not be able to leave the couch for several hours and might come to regret having taken so much. But that’s just a minor inconvenience, and time moves on and nobody dies or is left permanently scarred mentally or physically.

Cannabis Drinks

The continued use of the black market for recreational cannabis in Canada is a sign that the legal market is still struggling to find its niche. The fact that the black market persists despite the legalization of cannabis products years ago shows that the government and the speculators are to blame.

Now that recreational cannabis drinks are available in Canada, prices are high and dosages are set for novice and new users. For people with higher tolerance limits, 24-48 cans of soda are needed before an effect is likely to be seen. For seasoned cannabis users or medical patients, 10mg of cannabis per can of soda is needed to achieve an effect. If someone consumes this much cannabis, they are likely to be sugar sick and full of garbage calories and other additives and preservatives.

These so-called cannabis drinks may as well be promoted as having been stored near some cannabis products at one point. Given the restrictions that have been imposed on cannabis drinks, it’s no surprise that nobody has been crashing through the doors of any dispensaries looking for THC drink products.

Investors, speculators and giant industries all wanted to develop noteworthy brand identities around products that were both effective and enjoyable. Sadly, that’s just a pipe dream now. We won’t be getting brands of cannabis-infused beer from companies Canadians already love and trust anytime soon. Even if they could make them, the cannabis content in their THC drinks would be so low that they may as well be sold as “cannabis-free” alongside the non-alcoholic beer.

Where Are The Cannabis Drinks?

If you’re new to cannabis or don’t have any experience with edibles, the low doses of government-regulated cannabis that are available at retailers may be just what you need to start and learn your tolerance. For most casual users and newcomers, the 2mg – 10mg doses that are legally available for recreational cannabis may be suitable. But that doesn’t mean that they should be the only option available to consumers.

Alcohol is a regulated substance that is readily available to you. It is also much more dangerous than marijuana. Considering these factors, it is ridiculous that marijuana is still regulated in the same way. If alcohol was regulated in the same way, people would be much less safe because they would be unable to consume enough to harm themselves.

Even though alcohol is available in large quantities and in high strengths, it’s not a good idea for a novice user to drink it. If we follow the logic of the cannabis regulations, shouldn’t all hard liquors be taken off the shelves so nobody hurts themselves? Should we lower the alcohol content to just above negligible so that only people who drink extremely rarely will be able to enjoy the effects of a single beer?

Of course not. Having riots in the streets over watered down cannabis products would be a terrible idea. People who enjoy cannabis products would be boycotting them if they had to drink or eat something that was watered down. It’s a shame that there aren’t any effective and potent cannabis drinks and edibles available on the legal market for people with higher tolerances.

The Dream of The THC Craft Drink

Thank you for reading all of this. I know it’s been frustrating and disappointing to see the state of edibles and THC drink products in Canada. Fortunately, there is still a thriving underground craft market of producers creating high-quality edibles, products and THC capsules with reasonable potency levels for customers with higher tolerance limits or important medicinal dosage requirements.

The black market for cannabis is criminalized and vilified by the failing legal cannabis industry, but that doesn’t mean it’s a failure. In fact, it’s thriving and true innovation is happening without the government or the investor class who never should have been invited to the party in the first place.

The underground cannabis community has done a great job innovating and improving products for everyone, but big industry has been taking advantage of them. This should have been a proud moment for our Country, but instead it’s been turned into a disaster. We need to support small and local businesses instead of handing over our industry to big corporations.

Small batch and craft producers of cannabis products are in the same boat as craft beer producers when it comes to fighting for the ability to exist and do business. They will continue to try to make it harder to produce and sell cannabis products for anyone who is not a massive corporation, but the little guys will stand up for what is good and necessary for the cannabis culture and community.

We need to remember that the people the government and these industries call “criminals” are just like us – people who enjoy cannabis. Some are grandmothers who bake potent edibles to help with medical conditions that the legal producers can’t help with. Some are teachers, students, doctors, members of your church or community. Criminalizing their hobby and passion is nothing short of organized crime.
