There’s no need for any special equipment to enjoy hash – all you need is your fingers and some practice. Hash is a pure concentrate made from the resin glands of cannabis plants, which means it contains all the cannabinoids and terpenes together without the need for chemicals or separating compounds from plant material.

We recommend using cold or chilled products, such as kief, trim or shake, to make your hash as this will help to maintain the desired temperature of your bubble hash mixture.

Add one of our fine mesh or micron-sized sieves to one of our buckets or bags.

Put ice and 200-300 grams of your chosen cannabis in a bag or bucket.

Add an additional ¾ cup of ice and top up with cold water.

Let the buds, kief, trim, and shake sit for 15 to 30 minutes to allow the cannabinoids to settle.

After this time, stir the ice/water/cannabis for 5 minutes to agitate the frozen/hardened buds. This will separate them from the plant material.

Let the bag or bucket sit for another 5-10 minutes to allow the trichomes to sink to the bottom of the mesh/sieve.

After the trichomes have formed, lift the sift/mesh out of the water, and drain the ice/water. Save the cannabis and trichomes separately in another clean/empty bag/bucket.

Line the remaining bags/buckets with fine mesh/fabric/bag for sifting in descending order (i.e. less fine, finer, finest from top to bottom to further separate the trichomes at each filter stage).

After placing your buds, kief, trim, and shake into the filter bag or bucket, pour fresh cold water over the cannabis.

We’ve carefully sifted through the plant material and collected the resin glands, which have now settled to the bottom of the filter. If your water is still green, it’s not settled enough and you need to do another round of filtering.

Drain the water from the bags/buckets, and you should be able to see trichomes and resinous glands on the filters. Place the filters on towels and gently blot the outsides to collect any excess moisture.

We’ll be taking care of the scraping and removal process for you. We recommend using the finest micron mesh/fabric/bags to avoid repeating the process too many times.

Now that we have collected all of the trichomes and resin from each filter, let’s repeat steps 11-13 for all of them.

If you can still see any trichomes or glands on the buds you’ve already washed and filtered, keep repeating steps 1-10 until you’re confident you’ve extracted the full yield from your cannabis.

Spread the hash over your trays or racks, on parchment paper if possible, and store them in a dark, dry, and cool place. Drying can take 24-72 hours, depending on air circulation, so be patient.

Here’s how to make a batch of your own homemade hash. It may seem like a lot of work at first, but once you’ve done it a few times, you’ll see why DIY bubble hash is the favorite way to make it.
